Mountain Gorilla & Golden Monkeys.
DAY 1: ARRIVAL AT THE AIRPORT – VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport you will be met by our local representative where you will be briefed about your safari. Later depart along the northwest part of Rwanda to Volcanoes National Park, a home to over 360 Mountain Gorillas and golden monkeys. Upon arrival transfer to your Hotel for check in and freshen up to recover from your long journey. Dinner and overnight at the Lodge/Hotel.
DAY 2: MOUNTAIN GORILLA TRACKING
Early morning breakfast. After breakfast drive to the park headquarters with your packed lunch and water for gorilla trekking formalities and briefing by the Volcanoes National Park’s guides on the gorillas’ etiquette. You will be assigned to a specific group of gorillas. Later proceed to the forest to track the gorillas, an activity that will take you 2-8 hours depending on the movement of these great apes in the mist. After meeting and staying in the presence of the gorillas for a maximum of one hour, descend back to your hotel for relaxation. In the evening, you may go for nature walk or visit the Banyarwanda community, dinner and overnight stay at your preferred Lodge/Hotel.
DAY 2: GOLDEN MONKEY TRACKING – DEPARTURE
After an early breakfast, you will again drive to the park headquarters where you will have briefings and formalities for the golden monkeys trekking. The golden monkeys are rare, beautiful, and distinctive bamboo-associated primates of the blue monkey family and endemic to the Albertine Rift Valley. These adorable apes will keep you marveling at the wonder of how they carry out their daily activities and the way they are closely related to the human beings, also they are tremendously fun to watch as they squabble and play in fruiting trees.
After golden monkeys trekking, you will have lunch and then enjoy the scenic transfer back to Kigali with onward transfer to the airport for your evening outbound flight.
