City Tour – Cultural Activities – Mount Bisoke Hike
DAY 1: ARRIVAL AT THE AIRPORT – TRANSFER TO THE LODGE/HOTEL
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport you will be met by our local representative where you will be briefed about your safari. Later transfer to your preferred Hotel/Lodge for check in and freshen up to recover from your long journey. Dinner and overnight at the Hotel/Lodge.
DAY 2: CITY TOUR & CULTURAL ACTIVITIES
In the morning after breakfast you will be picked up from your accommodation and Proceed for a city tour in Kigali, Rwanda’s capital city which was named in 1907 by Dr. Richard Kandt, the first colonial resident governor of Rwanda. Kigali city is surrounded by lush hills of green. On the tour through the city, you will visit the Juru Park for a fantastic view of the city, surrounding hillside and countryside.
It is one of the highest points in Kigali city. Kigali Museum and learn the history of city and country’s pre-colonial and colonial period as well as the colonial masters in Rwanda. Visit the genocide memorial site, a grim reminder of a senseless massacre of innocent’s lives in 1994. Learn about Rwanda’s history from pre-colonial times to 1994 genocide and how Rwanda has dealt with that past. We continue with our tour and see the new developments in Rwanda; the recovery has been incredible, a testament to humankind’s resilience. Visit the Kimoronko Giant Market, the hand art and craft market of CAPLAKI and later leave the city for the country side. The afternoon is scheduled for cultural activities that will be taking place at the camp. Dinner and overnight at the camp.
DAY 3: MOUNT BISOKE HIKE
After breakfast, you will be picked up by the driver for your transfer to the park headquarters for registration and to hike from the starting point. Your hike will take approximately five hours. The Mount Bisoke adventure is one of the most memorable activities in Rwanda. The top of this volcano has a spectacular crater lake.
It is a simply six-hour hike including the two hours descending to the starting point. Experienced hikers can get to the top of this mountain in a matter of three hours or even less and return to the base in about an hour. After the hike, you will be driven back to the camp for cultural activities, dinner, and overnight stay.
DAY 4: DEPARTURE
After breakfast enjoy time relaxing. Depending on what time you wish to get back to the city/Airport for your final departures transfer will be organized.
